Keen Newport Review TOG Magazine Review By Judy Armstrong Until I discovered Teva’s Toachi, Newport were my first choice for trekking sandals. They are a top option for women considering sandals for the first time, because leather side ribs & an immense toe bumper offer unbeatable all-round protection. This means less air flow but more confidence. Instep support is good, underfoot comfort is excellent & the sandal cups the foot well. The only hitch is getting them on or off, especially with damp feet. The leather upper lined with hydrophobic SPR (like neoprene but anti-allergenic) covers the foot, & an elasticated loop acts as laces to hold it tight, leaving a small gap to shove the foot through. Grit rarely gets in but when it does, I usually have to remove the sandal to get it out. Sole lugs are shallow &, while the tread pattern does not look aggressive, it works well. I have worn these on very varied terrain & my feet have never felt vulnerable. Keen Newport
