Galileo's Globe Puzzle is part of the Professor Puzzle Great Minds range of unique puzzles. Finished in an antique style to give the puzzle an aged look, it is inspired by the Italian scientist & astronomer, Galileo who argued that the Earth wasn't the centre of the universe
- a contraversial notion during the sixteenth century.
The aim of the puzzle is to separate the pieces & then rebuild the globe. Looks easy? Think again! It's like a three dimensionsal jigsaw puzzle, only more challenging.
About Galileo Galilei 1564
- 1642 Italian scientist & astronomer, & inventor of the telescope he also developed the compass & the thermometer. He claimed that the earth was not the centre of the universe but that the planets including Earth orbited around the sun. A controversial theory at the time! By watching a lamp swinging in a cathedral, he made discoveries about the perpetual motion of a pendulum. He worked that a cannon ball fired from a cannon follows a special kind of curve called a parabola. His fabled experiment at the top of the leaning tower of Pisa demonstrated that objects of different weights will fall at the same speed.
