Hellebore ' Double Queen' is one of the most beautiful winter-flowering plants & is sure to make an eye-catching display wherever you decide to plant them. This collection has a mix of large, ruffled, & speckled double blooms, each one is totally unique, & this is because it has come from seed. Perfect for brightening your garden while other plants are still slumbering, they will also make a great accompaniment to spring bulbs, & although they are dainty to look at, they are incredibly tough whatever the weather. Their cup-shaped blooms provide a valuable nectar source for early pollinators & are a much loved favourite with bumble bees. Hellebores are essentially a woodland plant, so thrive in soil that is humus rich & moist. They can also be grown in pots if space is limited, provided they do not dry out in summer. Plants are not happy if left in very dry or waterlogged soil so incorporate plenty of well-rotted organic matter into the planting hole along with some horticultural grit if the soil is heavy. Water regularly during dry spells & mulch annually with leaf mould, chipped bark or other organic matter in autumn.
