Beta Carotene is widely used in precursor for Vitamin A (retinol) & can assist in the reduction of heart disease & certain types of cancers including prostate & lung cancer. The human body converts Beta Carotene into Vitamin A (retinol). Vitamin A is needed for many processes in the body; it provides healthy looking skin creating mucus membranes improving immune function & good for eye health & vision. Although more than 600 cartenoids have been identified in food it appears that only six of them are used in significant ways by the body or tissues of the body Beta Carotene being one of them along with lycopene alpha-cartotene lutein zeaxanthin & cryptoxanthin. Beta Carotene can be found is foods such as kale spinach sweet potato & lettuce.
