Tony Brooks was the first British driver to win a Grand Prix in a British car since Sir Henry Segrave in 1922, with his victory at Syracuse in a Connaught in 1955. He drove for the Vanwall team in 1957 & 1958, scoring four wins before joining Ferrari in 1959, with whom he won twice. He retired from active racing after a season with BRM in 1961.
