Topographic coverage of mainland Spain at 1:50, 000 in the MTN50 (Mapa Topográfico Nacional) series from the Centro Nacional de Información Geografica, the country’s civilian survey organization. The maps have contours at 20m intervals, enhanced by relief shading, plus colouring and/or graphics to show different types of terrain, vegetation or land use. Boundaries of national parks & other protected areas are marked. In addition to all the usual information featured on topographic mapping at this scale, detailed presentation of the road & rail networks, rural tracks & paths, etc, the maps also show campsites & mountain refuges. On more recent editions some GRs, the official long-distance hiking routes, are also marked (although not as clearly as on hiking maps from other publishers). Each map covers 29.5x 18.5 km (with adjustments in the border or coastal areas). The maps have a 1-km UTM grid, plus margin ticks for latitude & longitude at 1` intervals. Map legend is in Spanish only.HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT 50K MAP: all the titles in CNIG’s 200K Provincial Road Maps series at 1:200, 000 are overprinted with the grid for the 1:50, 000 maps & can be used to see the area covered by each 50K title. TO SEE THE LIST OF TITLES IN THIS SERIES PLEASE CLICK ON THE SERIES LINK.PLEASE NOTE
- MAP TITLES: the grids shown on our website serve both the civilian & the military 1:50, 000 topographic series. Although the areas covered by maps in both series are identical (apart from some border or coastal sheets), occasionally map titles differ – only one title is shown on the grid, usually the military one. In Galicia, the Basque country & in the Catalan speaking areas the tendency now is to use local place names rather than the often better known Castilian ones. Where possible, both versions are included in our titles. Map titles listed on our website are based on information received by us at the time of publication, but sometimes maps arrive showing a completely different title! As long as the map number is as ordered, the correct map has been supplied.

The Ultra-Secret Unit That Posed As Nazi Stormtroopers The Most Daring Mission Ever Undertaken SAS Ghost Patrol is the explosive true story of the day in 1942 when the SAS donned Nazi uniforms to perpetrate the most audacious & daring mission of the war. Beyond top secret, deniable in the extreme (and of course enjoying Churchill`s enthusiastic blessing), this is one of the most remarkable stories of wartime lawlessness, eccentricity & raw courage in the face of impossible odds
- a thoroughly British undertaking. What unfolded
- the longest mission ever undertaken by Allied special forces
- was an epic of daring, courage, tragedy & survival that remains unrivalled to this day, & which rightly became a foundation stone of Special Forces legend. Written with Lewis`s signature authenticity & dramatic verve, SAS Ghost Patrol is peopled by a cast of the utterly maverick & the extraordinary. In its quirky eccentricities & outrageous rule-breaking, this is a story that only the British could have authored, & with such panache & aplomb. It may read like the stuff of impossible myth or folklore, but every single word is true.

The Special Air Service was the brainchild of Scots Guards` officer Lieutenant David Stirling, serving with No 8 Commando. He advocated a specially organised, specially equipped & specially trained unit dedicated to the `unrelenting pursuit of excellence` that could act covertly & operate behind enemy lines to gain intelligence, destroy enemy aircraft & attack their supply & reinforcement routes. The 1st SAS Regiment was officially designated after successful raids against enemy airfields in the Middle East in 1941-1942. In May 1943 a 2nd SAS Regiment was raised in Algeria & would also serve in Sicily & Italy. SAS troopers were at the forefront of the action on D-Day, serving behind the enemy lines, assisting the French Resistance in diversionary attacks & in support of Allied armies. The SAS served with great distinction through 42 significant actions in Belgium, the Netherlands & Germany until the end of the war in Europe. This new addition to the bestselling Conway pocket-book series is compiled from wartime & post-war memorandums, manuals & documents.
