Pocket-sized flip-up notebook with an old London Transport poster on the cover entitled Boat Race, referring to the famous annual Oxbridge face-off. The journal has lined pages, & a material page marker to help you keep your place. The artist, Charles Paine, was a versatile & prolific designer. His time at the Royal College of Art was interrupted by military service. After graduating Paine left London to work for the Applied Art Department of Edinburgh College of Art. He then went on to work in Glasgow designing stained glass for Guthrie & Wells. During the 1920s he designed textiles & poster for a wide range of clients. In the 1930s he lived & worked in Welwyn Garden City, before moving to Jersey.
