In addition to all the usual information shown on topographic maps at this scale, detailed presentation of the road & rail networks, rural tracks & paths, etc, the maps also show campsites. Topographic survey of France at 1:25, 000 in IGN`s excellent TOP25 / Série Bleue series. All the maps are GPS compatible, with a 1km UTM grid plus latitude & longitude lines at 5’ intervals. Contours are at 5m intervals except for mountainous areas where the maps have contours at 10m intervals, vividly enhanced by hill shading & graphics for rocky terrain. Colouring with graphics indicates different types of vegetation or land use (deciduous or coniferous forests, moors, orchards, vineyards, etc). PLEASE NOTE: coverage of France at this scale is currently being revised – the format & the presentation of each title are indicated by the letters at the end of its Sheet Reference number (e.g. 0416ET, 3531ETR, 1923SB, etc.)MAPS WITH FULL TOURIST OVERPRINT & AN ENGLISH MAP LEGEND: all TOP25 maps & the SB editions of Série Bleue have an overprint highlighting waymarked walking trails including long-distance GR routes &, where appropriate, ski routes. La Ruta del Caracremada, a hiking circuit in the Catalan Pyrenees just north-west of Berga, presented at 1:30, 000 in a series of GPS compatible maps from Editorial Piolet with cartography based on Spain’s civilian topographic survey overprinted with hiking routes & other tourist information. The route which traces the footsteps of Ramon Vila Capdevila, Catalan nationalist & fighter in the Spanish Civil War nicknamed Caracremada, is prominently highlighted in two different colours for the hiking & the ski versions. The map also highlights 50 locations of special interest for which descriptions (in Catalan only) are provided on the reverse. Hiking maps in the Editorial Piolet series, unless indicated to the contrary in the individual description, have contours at 10m intervals, enhanced by relief shading and/or altitude colouring, & provide very detailed presentation of the terrain & local road network. An overprint highlights hiking routes, distinguishing between short local routes, longer PR paths & long-distance GR routes. La Sarraz area, map No. 251T, at 1:50, 000 in a special hiking edition of the country’s topographic survey, published by Swisstopo in cooperation with the Swiss Hiking Federation. Cartography, identical to the standard version of the survey, is highly regarded for its superb use of graphic relief & hill shading to provide an almost 3-D picture of Switzerland`s mountainous terrain. Contours are at 20m intervals. An overprint highlights routes maintained by the SHF, distinguishing between hiking routes, mountain routes requiring proper footwear, & alpine routes where equipment is needed. Paths which are part of the national or regional network of long-distance hiking routes are specially marked & in the more recent editions are annotated with their official numbers. The maps show mountain huts, refuges & in remote areas also inns, plus roads with bus service & the positions of bus stops. All the maps have a 1-km grid of the Swiss national coordinates. D073, one of the titles in an extensive series of light, A5-size, high quality paperback guides published by the Fédération Française de la Randonnée Pédestre in association with local authorities, ramblers’ clubs, etc. The guides have *colour extracts from the French topographic survey at 1:25, 000 or 1:50, 000 overprinted with local hiking routes*. On more recent editions some GRs, the official long-distance hiking routes, are also marked (although not as clearly as on hiking maps from other publishers). - MAP TITLES: the grids shown on our website serve both the civilian & the military 1:50, 000 topographic series. Although the areas covered by maps in both series are identical (apart from some border or coastal sheets), occasionally map titles differ – only one title is shown on the grid, usually the military one. In Galicia, the Basque country & in the Catalan speaking areas the tendency now is to use local place names rather than the often better known Castilian ones. Where possible, both versions are included in our titles. Map titles listed on our website are based on information received by us at the time of publication, but sometimes maps arrive showing a completely different title! As long as the map number is as ordered, the correct map has been supplied.

La Siene in a series of guides to France’s navigable rivers & canals from Editions du Breil, providing mapping of the waterways with better presentation of the surrounding countryside, including street plans of main towns along the routes. The maps present the waterways with locks, mooring places, etc. & the surrounding localities annotated with symbols indicating various facilities & places of interest. Most map panels cover a full page, enabling the publishers to provide better coverage of the surrounding countryside, showing more local towns & villages plus the connecting roads.
