Sizes:
the maps are available on paper or encapsulated & in two

Elevation for mountain peaks is given in feet. Within USA, Canada & Australia internal administrative boundaries & names of states/provinces are shown. The two Polar Regions are presented as insets in the top corners, while at the bottom two colourful maps of the world show vegetation cover & landforms (physical geography). The map also provides a list of 10 largest countries by area & by populations. Projection is Winkel Tripel, which reduces distortion of land masses as they near the poles.

Unfortunately, although clear & very effective on all the sizes of this design, the samples presented here cannot do full justice to such fine detail. On l&, the maps have relief shading with names of main mountain ranges. Heights for peaks are given in feet. Within USA boundaries & names of states are shown. Four insets present the Arctic & the Antarctic, plus vegetation/land use & population density world maps. Also provided are lists of 10 largest countries by area & by populations. Projection is Winkel Tripel, which reduces distortion of land masses as they near the poles.PLEASE NOTE: the two larger sizes are simply enlargements of the standard version, with larger print & more spectacular overall effect, but without additional cities or other information.

Cloth-backed reproduction from the Old Folding Maps of a political map of the world published by Edward Stanford in 1884 with Pacific Ocean at its centre. Country boundaries, drawn in different colours, present Europe & Africa very different from today, Asia with many changes mainly in the Middle East, but the Americas mostly unchanged. A particularly interesting feature of the map is the difference in the presentation of the two Polar Regions: the Arctic Ocean with most of its coastline already there, whilst the Antarctic is still in the early stages of exploration & only segments of its coast already mapped. Latitude & longitude lines are at 10° intervals; the map is drawn on a Mercator’s projection. Each individual cloth-backed map is sold folded in a colourful case covered with a unique design marbled paper – no two cases are identical.PLEASE NOTE: this title is also available as a paper wall map in two different sizes as part of the “ Stanfords Classics Collection of Historical Maps”. To see the full list of other titles in the series of cloth-backed reproductions from Old Folding Maps please click on the series link. ...
