- Dombay area at 1:100, 000 in a series of detailed topographic survey maps of the Western Caucasus from the Russian Army Cartographic Units in Rostov-na-Donu, with all place names in the Cyrillic alphabet. All the maps are contoured, with peak heights & colouring/graphics for rocky outcrops, snow covered or exposed ice fields, glaciers, forested areas, etc. The maps show local roads, cart tracks & footpaths, as well as other information usually found on topographic survey maps at this scale: settlements & individual buildings, bridges, electricity transmission lines, etc. Most titles have geographical coordinates, as indicated in the individual descriptions. All place names are in the Cyrillic alphabet. Some titles also include additional street plans and/or other information for climbers: a table showing the chill factor for various combinations of temperature & wind speed, international codes for conveying information to mountain rescue services, & drawings with advice on basic first aid.* Map legend & all the text are in Russian only.** In this title:* contours are at 80m intervals. Latitude & longitude lines are drawn at intervals of 5’. On the reverse is a regional map showing road access from the coastal resorts along the Black Sea, including Sochi & Adler, plus a map of Dombay at 1:15.000 with its ski facilities. Also provided is a table showing the chill factor for various combinations of temperature & wind speed, & international codes for conveying information to mountain rescue services.* *IMPORTANT
