The Grand Canyon is Constance Roos’ (updated by Sian Pritchard Jones & Bob Gibbons) Cicerone guide to some of the walking possibilities near one of the greatest natural wonders of the world. The guide covers the Grand Canyon & the equally impressive Zion & Bryce Canyon national parks, enabling walkers to plan everything from day walks to extended hikes. The Canyon is 277 miles in length & protected by over 1.2 million acres of national park. The guide is structured in three main parts
- the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park & Bryce National Park
- each of which has a series of chapters dedicated to different geographic areas. Individual routes have Information Boxes providing details of starting & finishing points, total distances, the relevant maps & a difficulty grading. A detailed introduction gives practical guidance on when to go, getting around, equipment, lodging & special hazards to consider. Detailed route descriptions are accompanied by sketch diagrams mapping the route as well as colour photographs illustrating some of the highlights of the region.
