The Times Atlases have been providing world class cartography since 1895 (when the first Times world Atlas was published). They are widely considered the most prestigious & authoritative of atlas producers & their atlases are used by major international organizations including the UN, the EC, the UK government & the media – BBC, CNN & ABC. Atlases represent the earth with a fine balance of accuracy, style, authority, tradition & vibrancy. Each product not only contains detailed up-to-date physical topographical mapping, but also contains a range of precise & topical geo-political reference maps & a selection of nation based facts & information, giving real context to the atlas images in front of you. As a general rule of thumb, the more expensive the atlas the more detail it will contain: more plates showing various countries and/or regions in greater detail, more places shown on the maps & listed in the index, & more additional information such as thematic plates, charts & graphs.* Please note
- Atlas details vary from title to title. Please see individual descriptions.*

The publication of The Tin Drum in 1959 launched Gunter Grass as an author of international repute. Bitter & impassioned, it delivers a scathing dissection of the years from 1925 to 1955 through the eyes of Oskar Matzerath, the dwarf whose manic beating on the toy of his retarded childhood fantastically counterpoints the accumulating horrors of Germany & Poland under the Nazis. ...

When her aunt Shirley dies, Dawn finds herself back in her claustrophobic home town in Northern Scotland for the first time in years. She spends her days caring for her small daughter, listening to tapes of old country songs & cleaning Shirley`s flat, until one day she comes across the key to a cupboard that she was forbidden to open as a child. Inside she finds an album of photographs, curling with age, shows a traveller community in the 1950s. A young couple pose on a beach, arms wrapped around each other; little girls in h&-me-down kilts reveal toothless smiles; &, an old woman rests her hands on her hips, her head thrown back in blurry laughter. But why has her aunt treasured these pictures secretly for so long? Dawn`s need for answers leads her to a group of Travellers on the outskirts of Elgin. There she learns of a young man left to die on the floor of a cell, & realises that the story of her family is about to be rewritten... ...

Once upon a time there was a tiny king who lived in a big castle guarded by lots of big soldiers. Every day the Tiny King eats an enormous feast at his big dining table (he can never finish it all), he rides on his big horse (he is so tiny that he`s thrown off every time), bathes in his big bath (not much fun), & sleeps, not very well, in his big bed all alone. Everything is just too big, & the Tiny King is sad & lonely. Until one day he meets a big princess & asks her to be his queen. Not long after, they are blessed with children
- lots of children! Now everything is just the right size. The enormous meals are always gobbled up, his horse is just the right size for family outings, bath time is a real riot, & the Tiny King sleeps soundly at last. With bright, bold cut-outs & a whimsical use of collage, Japanese artist Taro Miura creates a witty, heart-warming story with huge appeal for readers big & small.
