Distilled from the leaves & twigs of a tree in the same family as Tea Tree & Niaouli Cajeput is also strongly anti-septic & has a camphoraceous aroma. Unlike its more common relatives it has a high Cineol content which makes it skin-sensitising for some individuals. It should not therefore be used in the bath. Cajeput is a useful addition to steam inhalations to relieve symptoms of colds & other winter chills. Add six drops to a bowl of just-boiled water cover the head with a towel & breathe normally for up to ten minutes. Cajeput is a common ingredient in pharmaceuticals & dentistry as an antiseptic. For problem skin try 1 drop of Cajeput blended with 5ml (1 teaspoon) of Jojoba & apply twice daily (provided no skin irritation is experienced).
