This oil is entirely different from Virginian or Texan Cedarwoods. It comes from the Pine family as opposed to the Cypress family & is both chemically & olfactorily distinct. It is thought to be related to the Lebanon Cedars of the Eastern Mediterranean. The oil is distilled from the sawdust or stumps of trees which grow abundantly in the Atlas mountains of Morocco. As with Virginian Cedarwood this oil should be used in moderation never be used during pregnancy & it may cause skin irritation in those with sensitive skin. One of the more masculine of essential oils Cedarwood is popularly used in toiletries for men. For a light aftershave facial oil add 1 drop of Cedarwood 2 drops of Patchouli & 2 drops of Bergamot to 15ml of Jojoba oil. To help improve the condition of the scalp & encourage healthy hair add 3 drops each of Cedarwood & Rosemary to 10ml of Coconut oil (or 5ml Coconut & 5ml Wheatgerm for very dry hair) & massage thoroughly into the scalp. Leave for as long as possible before shampooing out. Cedarwood’s anti-septic deodorising & insect-repellent properties make it a very useful oil for burning or diffusing. Try blending with any of the citrus oils. ...

There are many types of cedarwood & it is important to be clear which one is which. Virginian Cedarwood comes from the cypress family & the oil has an odour of freshly sawn wood. It is usually distilled from sawdust from the lumbermills of the USA & is used extensively in perfumery & soap manufacture. Mixed with Sri Lankan Ctironella it was once a popular mosquito repellent but has since been largely replaced by chemicals. Absolute Aromas Virginian Cedarwood is Virginian Light (light refers to the method of distillation). One of the more masculine of essential oils Cedarwood is popularly used in toiletries for men. The reference to German reflects the fact that this essential oil used to be distilled mostly in Germany. When fresh this oil is deep blue fairly viscous & has an intense sweetness that some people find unpleasant. It is extensively used in pharmaceutical products for its healing properties. As with Roman Chamomile the high price reflects the low yield & labour-intensive processes involved in producing this oil. German Chamomile is particularly effective when used with a compress either hot or cold. If you are suffering from a buzzing head after a stressful day try adding 2 drops of German Chamomile & 1 drop of Lavender to a bowl of ice cold water. Dip a folded face flannel into the water wring it out & place it across your forehead lie back & relax. Alternatively try using in a hot compress to ease general aches & pains. German Chamomile is also an excellent addition to skincare products for dry or sensitive skin. Try 1 drop of German Chamomile & 3 drops of Mandarin in 10ml of Avocado oil as an alternative moisturiser. Do not use German Chamomile at all during early pregnancy & only on specialist advice thereafter. ...

This oil is pale blue/green in colour. England is the top source for this wonderful all-round soothing oil & Absolute Aromas has selected an oil of consistently high quality grown & distilled in the UK. The small flower heads used are labour-intensive to grow & pick & yield very little essential oil which explains the high price. Along with Lavender Roman Chamomile can be described as a panacea in aromatherapy & is one of the most useful & popular of all essentail oils. Being one of the gentler oils it is safe for use on all the family except during early pregnancy. Try blending 4 drops of Chamomile & 4 drops of Lavender in 2 teaspoonfuls of Sunflower oil & adding to a cool bath for dry sensitive skin to encourage relaxation or ease general aches & pains. Incorporate a steam facial into your weekly skincare routine. This slightly pungent oil distilled from the partly dried leaves & twigs of Cinnamomum Zeylanicum is often used in perfumery for its warm spicy oriental notes. It has a high level of Eugenol (80-90%) which may cause skin irritation especially in baths & thus it is sold only for use in a burner or diffuser unless otherwise advised by a qualified aromatherapist. Cinnamon has a warming & spicy aroma which blends wonderfully with the citrus oils & other spices such as Clove or Nutmeg. To create the perfect atmosphere over the festive season blend 1 drop of Cinnamon Leaf 1 drop of Clove Bud & 3 drops of Mandarin in a burner or diffuser. To help lift your spirits if you are feeling under the weather try 1 drop of Cinnamon Leaf 2 drops of Ylang Ylang & 2 drops of Sweet Orange. ...
