- 75%) dominates & hence the oil resembles Lemongrass although it has a rounder & more fruity aroma. Like Lemongrass May Chang is used for the isolation of Citral for lemon flavours & for the production of several perfumery materials as well as Vitamin A. While the synonym Litsea Citrata is often given for May Chang Litsea Citrata is a related species with a lower Citral content. A wonderful citrus aroma which uplifts cleanses & tones. May Chang is an excellent room deodoriser & insect repellent – use 5 or 6 drops in a traditional candle burner Aroma-Stone or Aroma-Stream. For oily or problem skin try adding a few drops of May Chang to skin cleansing products to boost astringent & anti-bacterial properties (not suitable for sensitive skin).

However it complements Cedarwood Rosemary Geranium Lavender Ylang Ylang or the spice oils. For a refreshing cleansing aroma try 5 drops of Melissa Type with 2 drops of Rosemary in a burner or diffuser. For a smoother more floral aroma try 2 drops of Geranium with 4 drops of Melissa Type or 3 drops of Lavender with 4 drops of Melissa Type. As its components are oils high in insect-repellent chemicals Melissa Type is also very good at keeping flying pests at bay. For this try blending 5 drops of Melissa Type with 2 drops of Cedarwood in a burner or diffuser.
