While honey contains all the sugars that bees need, pollen provides them with a high source of proteins, vitamins, minerals & amino acids for nourishment. The pollen is then distributed to differents parts of the hive & stored in honeycomb, an experienced beekeeper can sometimes tell which flowers the bees have been visiting. Bees collect pollen in pollen sacks attached to their back legs & sitting by the hive on a nice day you can often see there colourful pollen filled sacks as the bees fly back to the hive.
