The specially designed aggressively lugged Contagrip Winter Mud & Snow sole has 9 tungsten spikes embedded in it for extra traction on icy ground.   The whole shoe is covered by a lightweight gaiter over- boot to provide protection to your ankle & to reduce the ingress of water & snow. The front of the shoe features Salomon’s own waterproof Climashield membrane, this does not make the boot completely waterproof but adds protection to the vulnerable toe area when running in the cold & wet.  The heel area of the boot is unprotected leaving it to breathe more freely.  This construction is the perfect balance between weather protection & breathability. The Speedcross has firmly established itself as the definitive trail running shoe; providing outstanding grip, control & comfort.
