The Batura Jacket is a phenominally practical & very warm winter mountaineering jacket. The Pertex Shield outer fabric is completely waterproof & breathable making it absolutely perfect for our UK wet winter conditions. The Batura is filled with 455g of 800 fill power Hydrophobic European Goose Down which has passed the European Down & Feather Codex. This code of conduct determines the source of the down; ensuring that the down is a by-product of a slaughterhouse or harvested during moulting periods & is not illegally live-plucked. All this means that the down inside the Batura is about as good as it gets! All this lovely down is captured within a narrow box wall construction to maximise loft & minimise cold spots. To further increase the practicality of this brilliant jacket Rab has used Hydrophobic down, basically each & every cluster of down is treated at source with Nikwax environmentally friendly, fluorocarbon free special products to make them perform better in damp conditions. Although Hydrophobic down is not waterproof it dries much faster, absorbs less water & retains loft far better than untreated down. To give the Batura the belt & braces approach Rab have covered all this Hydrophobic down with the superb Pertex Shield fabric. This tough nylon fabric has a breathable microporous waterproof coating to protect from wind & water whilst reducing condensation build-up within the jacket. All zips used on the Batura are YKK Vislon, these are made from injected plastic making them much lighter than metal zips & far less susceptible to freezing & feature glove & mitt friendly zip pullers. It may not be the most technically advanced, it may not be the most exciting to look at & it may not allude to Alpine peaks & pioneering first ascents; but it does do what it is designed to do very well. The Bergen is cut longer to keep your bum & top of your thighs dry, so whilst you may not be able to wear a harness comfortably, you will be well protected when yomping across the mountains in horizontal rain. The body of the Bergen is made from mid weight Event & the shoulders & arms feature a heavier fabric to combat abrasion & provide durability, so whilst it may not be super light, it will last for years & cope with carrying a pack. The Event fabric used is a a totally waterproof & highly breathable membrane offering high performance at sensible prices. Our personal experience shows that it is just as waterproof as & breathable as the new Gore-Tex Pro fabrics. Rab are the masters of hood design, they are not so big that your head just wallows around in it, they cinch down without obscuring your vision & they have a wired peak so it doesn’t flop down over your eyes. This fabulous mid layering jacket provides exceptional warmth & moisture control for all winter mountain activities.  The Boulder Jacket is made from Polartec Thermal Pro which is a high loft deep pile fleece with air permeability making it extremely breathable.  The Boulder works best under a water/wind proof outer shell as it is susceptible to air penetration in windy conditions. The Boulder offers incredible levels of warmth in relation to its low weight, wicks moisture & dries exceptionally quickly.  Polartec Powerstretch fabric is used on the cuffs, side & underarm panels & around the neck to provide unrestricted movement & a nice contrasting finish.  Thumb loops are included on the cuffs to ensure the vital wrist area remains warm when scrambling & climbing.  All seams are flat locked for extra durability & the neck is nice & high to seal out the cold.  The Boulder is about the best performing mid layering fleece that can also be used as a fabulously warm après activity cosy jacket. ...
