Any sleeping bag is only as good as its filling & Snugpak have used their highly efficient Softie insulation to provide a comfort rating of -15ºC. Softie is made up of superfine yarns bound with resin to produce a stable yet luxurious down like feel. The yarns themselves are random in shape, some crimped, some spiral & some straight to mimic the structure of natural insulators. The big advantage of Softie insulation over down is that it still retains the majority of its insulating powers when wet. All this valuable insulation is protected by Paratex Micro, an outer fabric that is very strong, wind & water repellent yet soft & easily compressed. The Chrysalis 5 is lined with Paratex Light, a lighter version of the face fabric that wicks moisture away from your body & dries exceptionally quickly. The really clever bit about all Chrysalis sleeping bags is the expander panel. A large zip baffle can be unzipped to allow much more room in the bag with the effect of allowing more air to circulate making the bag cooler. When the temperature drops simply zip up the expander panel to make the bag tighter & therefore warmer. Further versatility is added with clips that can be used to shorten the bag by 45cm making it useful for growing children or shorter friends. Another practical feature of all Chrysalis bags is the built in micro LED light in the hood, no more fumbling around for your torch, its right where you need it. The comfort rating of this bag is -15ºC, this is based on the assumption that you will be wearing light clothing, & sleeping on a good quality insulating mat inside a tent. This is the only measure of warmth that we recommend you use.
