The Redburn is first & foremost a technical high grip approach shoe that is perfectly at home scrambling on crags & mountains.  The first thing you notice when putting these on is the snug elasticated tongue that forms a smooth sock around your foot, they slip on easily & there is no wrinkling or rucking up of excess fabric.  When the laces are pulled you are instantly held securely by Mammut’s Base Fit system that transfers power to the sole & prevents pressure points & foot slippage.  The sole itself is a “gripex Cougapproach” unit with multidirectional lugs & built in rolling concept, so it grips like the preverbal to the blanket & also allows an easy motion for stable descents & longer walks. The Redburn is not waterproof; however it is incredibly breathable thanks to the open pored 3D liner & abrasion resistant fabric & leather uppers.  This combination ensures a comfortable temperature & constant air flow.  Aside from all this technical prowess the Redburn is a very comfortable everyday shoe.
