The Bastion Jacket from M.E. is a lightweight hooded jacket that can be thrown on to provide you with warmth & a 100% windproof barrier. This is thanks to the Gore-  Windstopper shell fabric that stops the wind from pushing out warm air trapped within the  Polarloft  Duo insulation. This brilliant jacket is probably one of the best lightweight insulated jackets around today; its warm, extremely breathable & very very weather resistant. Chuck the Bastion on over a good base layer & its pretty much all youll need for winter mountain activities & thanks to the highly breathable face fabric & insulation the Bastion works extremely well as a mid layer for extreme conditions. The  Windstopper shell fabric, apart from being rather obviously windproof, is highly water resistant, so youll only need a waterproof shell when the weather gets extremely nasty. Stretch  Windstopper panels under the arms & down the sides provide superb freedom of movement & ensure an efficient fit to maximise the insulation. The bastion is filled with a synthetic insulation called  Polarloft  Duo which is made up from a mix of hollow core & multi-channel fibre. These fibres work together regulating temperature as you move. It provides impressive moisture management which aids the removal of excess heat & moisture when you are active yet it does an amazing job of keeping you warm during rest periods. Unlike Down,   Polarloft  Duo will retain a high percentage of its warmth even when wet, & will dry out exceptionally quickly, making the Bastion Jacket absolutely perfect for UK winter conditions. The Bastion Jacket has a Mountain style Helmet Compatible (HC) Hood & has been cut to M.E. Alpine Fit block. We advise you to align the main head port by sliding your arms into the left & right limb slots. Once your hands reach the end of the limb slots & your head is through the main head port; adjust so the crew neck sits straight & that the labels are positioned at the rear of the head port, making sure that the logo is facing forwards. Made using 3 Layer Gore-Tex Pro 40D in the main body & hood, then the super burly 3 Layer Gore-Tex Pro 80D in the high wear areas such as shoulders, arms & hips. The face fabric is made up of twisted  Nylon yarns maintaining its tough, durable properties but allows the fabric to be more supple & not so stiff. The guys at M.E. have used all of their Storm Construction techniques during the design & build of the jacket. Everything form seam construction, placements & taping; which face fabrics to use, bar tack reinforcement & storm guarded YKK Aquaguard zips. Fort Knox Federal Gold Reserve has nothing on this jacket when it comes to keeping things out. It is built around Mountain Equipment’s “ Mountain Fit” block so it has that little bit of extra room to allow for other layers. The sleeves are pre-shaped & articulated to allow for more natural unrestricted movement. The Mountain HC Hood works with for short periods & great without a helmet so it’s a win win. If you need a snow skirt the awesome it has one of those too, but if you don’t need one the cool thing is you can just unzip it & take it out. The Dual Tether Hem Drawcord allows for greater fit customisation whilst also eliminating the risk of snagging things like ice axes & crampons.
