The Compressor Hooded Jacket is very similar to the M.E.  Arete  Jacket. They are both considered as a heavyweight mid layer piece or a super lightweight belay jacket & both are constructed using the same Helium 30 outer fabric; however the Compressor is filled with  Prima Loft  Gold instead of duck down. This means that this jacket is more suitable for use if you know the day is going to be wet (which in the UK are most days); the reason for this is because  Prima Loft  Gold still works when wet where as a down would just die. The Helium 30 fabric itself is highly windproof protecting the nice warm air that is trapped within the  Prima Loft insulation. The adjustable Mountain Hood gives a precise cranial fit & like any decent belay jacket; it packs into its own pocket & can be attached to your harness using the stitched in crab loop. Helium 30 outer is exceptionally lightweight & windproof Prima Loft GOLD insulation [60g with 40g arms & side panels] Quilted body construction Adjustable Mountain Hood 2-way YKK moulded centre front zip 2 zipped hand warmer pockets Napoleon chest pocket For all you kit geeks out there, the links below will take you to Mountain Equipments Information pages where they will explain this jackets different fabrics, fills & constructions techniques in greater detail. The fingers are pre-curved & the thumb is made from a 3-part build method to aid dexterity, while the back of the hands have been been fitted with a stretch panel to help lessen the restriction of movement, that you might get with other gloves. They have fitted the back of the thumbs with a nose friendly patch, reducing the chance of getting a sore nose from constant wiping of your runny nose. If youre thinking, Yeah, all this is great, but how warm are they? Baring in mind I have already said they are Gore-Tex lined making them waterproof & windproof, they are also fleece & fiber pile lined for warmth & easy donning, & like any descent mountaineering glove they have a one-handed drawcord closure so there is less faff. The Eclipse Hooded Zip Tee. Due to the use of two types  Pontetorto  Technostretch  Fleece, M.E. has manufactured this garment with a flexible & active fit. They have used  Pontetorto  Techno Stretch Fleece in the main body, arms & upper hood to provide greater warmth where it’s needed, then a lighter-weight  Technostretch  Fleece is used to panel key areas such as under arms, collar & hem; basically the places where you don’t want too much bulk. The Hood will fit under your helmet & when you zip up you get full face coverage; great for those cold winter days. The off-set zip is a key feature if this lightweight midlayer/heavyweight baselayer. Not only does it stop you from catching your whiskers in the zips teeth, which is annoyingly painful, but as the zip runs at a different direction to other layers it reduces cold spots that you normally get from zips that are all lined up. The thumb loops are of a good size as sometimes thumb loops can be a bit snug, but these are lovely & comfortable. The longer length cut avoids skin exposure when reaching up high for a hold & the Polygiene anti-microbial technology helps keep the garment smelling fresh during prolonged use. I would use this piece when climbing or fast moving winter sports such as skiing, snowboarding or even hiking. Pontetorto Technostretch fleece for warmth & minimal bulk Lightweight Pontetorto Technostretch fleece panels in key areas Polygiene anti-microbial technology Active fit with longer length Close fitting Lycra bound hood with face protection & offset closure Flatlocked seams throughout for next-to-skin comfort YKK offset deep centre front zip for ventilation Napoleon pocket with mesh back Seam-free hips for comfort with a harness or rucksack Low bulk cuffs with integrated thumb loops For all you kit geeks out there, the links below will take you to Mountain Equipments Information pages where they will explain this jackets different fabrics, fills & constructions techniques in greater detail. The Fitzroy Jacket is packed with Prima Loft Gold (100g fill in the body with 60g in the arms & hood). The Prima Loft Gold is the rebranded Prima Loft One. It rivals the weight & compressibility of down & keeps you warm when wet; what more do you want from your insulation layer? The Drilite Loft II outer fabric is a totally windproof & highly water resistant. Drilite is a Nylon fabric that is hard wearing yet light enough to allow the insulation to fully loft; therefore it can trap more arm air keeping you nice & toasty. The Fitzroy jacket features Shoulder Shield Construction which is a one piece shoulder & arm panel & a dual layer fill; this reduces the amount of seams, resulting in fewer water entry points & potential forming of cold spots on this key area of wear. Designed with a bit of extra space to allow you to throw this on over other layers (M.E.’s Mountain Fit) is what makes this jacket perfect for use in cold conditions. 2014 autumn/winter updates DRILITE Loft II outer; totally windproof & highly water resistant Prima Loft GOLD insulation (100g body & 60g arms/hood) Mountain HC insulated hood with wired visor Mountain fit with articulated & pre-shaped sleeves Shoulder Shield construction DRILITE Loft II inner hem & hood lining Carry over features 2-way YKK moulded centre front zip with insulated rear baffle 2 zipped hand warmer pockets with microfleece lining Napoleon chest pocket Internal zipped security pocket Adjustable cuffs & dual tether hem drawcords For all you kit geeks out there, the links below will take you to Mountain Equipments Information pages where they will explain this jackets different fabrics, fills & constructions techniques in greater detail. The Fitzroy Mitt is an ideal mitt for lower level expedition or backcountry skiing. The outer mitt is filled with  Prima Loft  Gold that has been encased in a shell of Dirlite  Loft fabric. Drilite Loft has a PU coating that provides a 1500mm hydrostatic head to keep insulation dry in wetter conditions. Dont worry if the water manages to get through the outer fabric;  Primaloft Gold is virtually unaffected by water & still does an awesome job at keeping your hands warm. The palm is made from Pittarads  Armortan  Goatskin which is supple yet durable. For ease of use M.E have fitted the opening of the mitt with a one handed draw cord so there is less faff. It gets better, because inside this outer mitt is & inner mitt! This inner mitt I speak of is made out of a softshell fabric for a close yet stretchy fit. There is more, this mitt is lined with fibre pile for added warmth & it has has another leather palm. To keep this inner mitt free of snow & things, the Fitzroy has an extended gauntlet with a wide opening so you can get you jacket sleeve tucked safely inside.
