New for 2014! The Karakorum Jacket has a longer cut when compared to the rest of M.E.s hard shell range aimed at for those wanting a bit more coverage. The main body, underarms, & hood are constructed out of 3-layer Gore-tex 50D fabric. Then in areas such as shoulders, elbows & waist, where a jacket receives the most abuse, M.E. has reinforced them with a 3-layer Gore-Tex 70D fabric. The Mountain HC Hood is fully adjustable & helmet compatible; it is a bit of a snug fit with a helmet as it has not been designed for prolonged helmet use. This style hood is great if you are doing a bit a scrambling or other activities where you are chopping & changing between helmet & no helmet. As it is fully adjustable you can take out all the excess volume to create a secure comfortable fit. M.E. Have made the Karakorum around their Mountain Fit block, it is a slightly larger cut to allow room for cold weather layers, or for those who find the Alpine Fit just a little too snug. They have also made it slightly longer in the body to give you a bit more protection for all you serious Trekkers & mountaineers. The Stratum Storage System has been applied to the main storage pockets of this jacket. This allows for up to 25% extra storage space than before, so there is heaps of room for you to stash those big laminated maps. The adjustable cuffs & dual tether hem cords can be tighten & synched to help keep out nasty cold drafts & provide a more customizable fit. 3-layer GORE-TEX 50D fabric 3-layer GORE-TEX 70D fabric reinforcements Mountain HC Hood is fully adjustable Mountain fit with long body length Stratum Storage System; 2 large pockets & 1 Napoleon chest pocket with YKK® WR zips Zipped mesh inner pocket 2-way YKK moulded Aquaguard centre front zip Adjustable cuffs & dual tether hem drawcords For all you kit geeks out there, the links below will take you to Mountain Equipments Information pages where they will explain this jackets different fabrics, fills & constructions techniques in greater detail. The  Karakorum  Mountain Pants are commonly seen in serious environments all over the world. This is because they are stupidly rugged & versatile. Made from a  Drilite fabric, which has a hydrostatic head of 20, 000mm and a breathability rating of 20, 000g/sqm/24h; Waterproof & breathable. Need I say more? The face fabric is a 70D fabric with a 160D reinforced weave, so it can take quite a few scrapes, likewise with the reinforced kick-strips. They have a full length 2 way YKK zips with an internal storm flap, & a drop rear seat (crap flap) for when nature calls. The fixed internal gaiter keeps out unwater snow & water. M.E. have made these over-trousers around their Active Fit block which their Swiss pattern cutting experts friends have helped design, for a close yet manoeuvrable fit that eradicates unwanted bulk & removes excess weight. 3-layer DRILITE® 70D fabric with 160D reinforced weave Active fit with articulated knees Full length 2-way YKK® moulded side zips with inner storm flaps 2-way YKK® moulded front zip with storm flap Fully adjustable braces with drop rear seat Reinforced kick-strips for ski & crampon durability Fixed internal gaiters For all you kit geeks out there, the links below will take you to Mountain Equipments Information pages where they will explain this items different fabrics & constructions techniques in greater detail. Made using 3 Layer Gore-Tex Pro 40D in the main body & hood, then the super burly 3 Layer Gore-Tex Pro 80D in the high wear areas such as shoulders & arms means this jacket was designed to take a beating from the weather & general mountaineering abuse. The  Lumin  Jacket is new to M.E. for winter 2014, & it is the warmest in their lightweight down jacket range. This is thanks to the ultra-compressible & lightweight He (Helium) 30 fabric, the high loft baffle construction & the WR  Down 675 that fills it. The use of down ensures the best warmth to weight ratio & compressibility of any other forms of insulation. WR  Down does not mean you can now wear your down jacket in the rain! It means that the down resists the absorption of moisture therefore increasing the downs performance when it comes to wicking moisture away from your body. Unless your down jacket states that is 100% waterproof, it is still only suitable for cold dry conditions. The  Lumin has an adjustable Light Dome HC (Helmet Compatible) Hood. The Light Dome hood isn’t designed for all-day helmet use but will do the job when absolutely necessary.
