Made using 3 Layer Gore-Tex Pro 40D in the main body & hood, then the super burly 3 Layer Gore-Tex Pro 80D in the high wear areas such as shoulders & arms means this jacket was designed to take a beating from the weather & general mountaineering abuse. The guys at M.E. have used all of their Storm Construction techniques during the design & build of the jacket. Everything form seam construction, placements & taping; which face fabrics to use, bar tack reinforcement & storm guarded YKK Aquaguard zips. All of these processes help to make this weatherproof fortress not only work exceptionally well but also fit superbly. It is built around Mountain Equipment’s “ Alpine Fit” block so it has a closer fit but with enough room to allow for other layers. The sleeves are pre-shaped & articulated to allow for more natural unrestricted movement. The Mountain HC Hood works great with & without a helmet so it’s a win win. The Dual Tether Hem  Drawcord allows for greater fit customisation whilst also eliminating the risk of snagging things like ice axes & crampons. M.E have engineered all the pockets on the front of the jacket in accordance with their Stratum Storage System Construction which increases the internal pocket size by as much as 25%; so there is stacks of room for maps, gloves, hats & whatever else you like to store in your pockets. 3-layer GORE-TEX Pro 40D fabric 3-layer GORE-TEX Pro 80D fabric reinforcements Mountain HC Hood is fully adjustable Alpine fit with articulated & pre-shaped sleeves Storm Construction techniques used throughout 2-way YKK moulded Aqua Guard centre front zip Stratum Storage; 2 large pockets & 1 Napoleon pocket with YKK moulded Aquaguard zips 2-way YKK WR underarm pit zips with laminated & bonded entry Adjustable laminated cuffs & dual tether hem drawcords For all you kit geeks out there, the links below will take you to Mountain Equipments Information pages where they will explain this jackets different fabrics, fills & constructions techniques in greater detail. The  Lumin  Jacket is new to M.E. for winter 2014, & it is the warmest in their lightweight down jacket range. This is thanks to the ultra-compressible & lightweight He (Helium) 30 fabric, the high loft baffle construction & the WR  Down 675 that fills it. The use of down ensures the best warmth to weight ratio & compressibility of any other forms of insulation. WR  Down does not mean you can now wear your down jacket in the rain! It means that the down resists the absorption of moisture therefore increasing the downs performance when it comes to wicking moisture away from your body. Unless your down jacket states that is 100% waterproof, it is still only suitable for cold dry conditions. The  Lumin has an adjustable Light Dome HC (Helmet Compatible) Hood. The Light Dome hood isn’t designed for all-day helmet use but will do the job when absolutely necessary. M.E. only uses Down Codex Audited Animal Welfare approved sources for all their Down filled products marked with the Down Codex Stamp.
