We also like the Ojo Maya Yellow Firepit because it comes with a lid which stops a large amount of rain water entering the Firepit which could help to aid any long term deterioration.
The Fire pit itself is finished with a smooth feel which creates a soft clay to touch. Each of the firepits within the Ojo Maya range
All Fire pits should be covered when not in use to help protect the Clay & stop any deterioration which may be caused by adverse weather. As some deterioration is inevitable we also suggest the clear Chimseal solution is applied regularly to maintain the original look of the clay colour. The Chimseal will also help to stop cracks appearing on the Fire pit. Please see the recommended covers & care products in the related products shown to the right of this page.
We do not recommend you use coal as a fuel in clay fire pits as it burns too hot & can cause the clay to crack. We do however recommend that you use log fuel to heat your Fire pit as this burns hot but will not cause the clay to crack. Please see the recommended fuels in the related products shown to the right of this page.
Finally, we recommend using the Chimenea & Firepit Guard when your Fire pit is hot as this will stop adults & children & pets getting too close to the Fire pit. This will reduce the chance of anyone getting burnt. We believe this is a great safety device & everyone who buys a Chimenea or Firepit should have one.
