The Garden at Charleston
- A Bloomsbury Garden through the Seasons captures the year round beauty & glory of one of English culture’s most enchanting & significant gardens in images taken by garden photographer Sue Snell. Charleston was made famous by its associations with the Bloomsbury set
- who lived in squares & loved in triangles. The walled garden, created by Vanessa Bell & Roger Fry from the vegetable garden after the war, the pond, the orchard & the fields beyond, all contributed in a major sense to the creative energies of the place. This creativity is reflected in the numerous works of art (in particular the sculpture by Vanessa & Clive Bell`s son Quentin) placed around your garden to enhance, & sometimes to comment on or to provide a counterpoint to the simple but expressive planting schemes.
