Coriander essential oil is distilled from the ripe seeds (fruit) of the coriander herb. It is cultivated all over Europe particularly in Russia. The oil is colourless-to-yellow & has a pleasant smell. Another essential oil can be produced from coriander by the steam-distillation of the fresh & dried leaves. This oil has one main constituent
- Decyl Aldehyde
- quite different from the seed oil which has a high percentage of Linalol. The seed oil is far safer for aromatherapy use.
