The Arcteryx Covert Hoody
has been around forever,
but this year it has been
redesigned with a much
improved fit. The body
has lost that square boxy
shape and has been
tailored to offer a
slimmer yet still relaxed
fit. The body is now also
a bit longer for improved
insulation and the arms
have been lengthened and
shaped to make them more
practical and
comfortable. Arcteryx
have used a new fabric,
which retains that marled
wool look so familiar to
Covert fans. The fabric
is called Alpenex
Heathered and is 100%
polyester with a smooth
surface, just like wool,
with a brushed fleece
inner. The fabric
provides superb
insulation, wicks
moisture and dries
quickly so it is
perfectly suitable for
use as a technical mid
layer, but I suspect
that most of the time the
