Rab have upgraded all their brilliant sleeping bags for the 2014 season with Hydrophobic Down. This flurocarbon free treatment was developed in conjunction with Nikwax & although Hydrophobic Down is not waterproof it dries much faster, absorbs less water & retains loft far better than untreated down.  The Expedition 1000 is designed to withstand the harshest weather & is protected with an outer fabric of Pertex Endurance providing good water resistance combined with excellent breathability & durability. The lining is Pertex Microlight with high wicking properties &, as the name suggests, very low weight & bulk. The hood & foot area is lined with Pertex Endurance to minimise damage from wear & also reduce water take up from wet boots & clothing. Insulation is provided by 1000g of 850 fill power superior quality Hydrophobic European Grey Goose Down, yes you read correctly, 1000g of mega down! This amazing down is held in place with the use of longitudinal baffles which stops the down migrating to the sides of the bag. These longitudinal baffles are also trapezoid in shape resulting in a very stable structure & consistent distribution of down throughout the bag. The outer & inner walls of the baffles benefit from differential cut,  which allows for specific fill weights & fill power by maximising natural loft resulting in greater performance. Expedition sleeping bags are sized larger to accommodate bulky clothing & make entry & exit easier.
