Pertex are a world leader in fabric technology & have worked closely with Rab to develop this high performance fabric with a hydrostatic head of 16, 000 mm, which basically means its VERY waterproof. Pertex Shield also provides high levels of breathability with a MVTR of 20, 000 (Gore-Tex Pro for example has a MVTR of around 28, 000). The Spark Pullon is designed to be a the minimalist mountain activists dream, it will take up minimum space in your pack but deliver reliable performance when the conditions turn nasty. Rab have given you a nice roomy front kangaroo pocket that is mesh lined to help with ventilation & also acts as a stuff sack. The helmet compatible hood makes this a great piece to keep in your bag & throw on when climbing or scrambling. If you are worried about water seeping through the zips then dont be; all zips are YKK Aqua Guard water resistant zips which are the best water resistant zips on the market. The Rab Summit Jacket has been in Rab’s winter range for donkey’s years & recent updates have spruced up this classic down jacket. The Summit is probably the perfect all round nasty weather down jacket, ideal for winter mountaineering, base camp comfort or as a practical & durable everyday winter jacket. Pertex Endurance fabric is used to protect the lovely down insulation, this tough yet lightweight fabric has a light PU coating to give it a useful degree of water resistance, & although not completely waterproof it will shrug off the worst of the weather. Heavier denier contrasting Pertex Endurance is used over the shoulders & arms to provide reassuring abrasion resistance. Filled with 285g of 650 fill power Hydrophobic Goose Down in a stitch through construction the Summit Jacket will provide ample warmth for all but the most extreme temperatures. The down filled hood has a wired peak & can be rolled down & secured with poppers when not required. Rab is using Hydrophobic down in all their down jackets, basically each & every cluster of down is treated with Nikwax products to make them perform better in damp conditions.  Although Hydrophobic down is not waterproof it dries much faster, absorbs less water & retains loft far better than untreated down. The use of a YKK Vislon Aqua Guard main zip further enhances the Summit’s weather resistance & gives the jacket a smart technical appearance.
