The specially designed
aggressively lugged
Contagrip Winter Mud and
Snow sole has 9 tungsten
spikes embedded in it for
extra traction on icy
ground. The whole shoe
is covered by a
lightweight gaiter over-
boot to provide
protection to your ankle
and to reduce the ingress
of water and snow. The
front of the shoe
features Salomon’s own
waterproof Climashield
membrane, this does not
make the boot completely
waterproof but adds
protection to the
vulnerable toe area when
running in the cold and
wet. The heel area of
the boot is unprotected
leaving it to breathe
more freely. This
construction is the
perfect balance between
weather protection and
breathability. Sensifit
and Quiklace systems
provide outstanding
internal support without
uncomfortable lace
pressure over the foot.
Lightweight Muscle
Chassis offers cushioning
and support for harder
surfaces, but this shoe
is definitely not
designed for road use.

The Speedcross has
firmly established itself
as the definitive trail
running shoe; providing
outstanding grip,
control and comfort. The
uppers are made from a
lightweight synthetic
material that has minimal
water uptake keeping the
shoe light and quick
drying even when it’s
horrendous underfoot.
Breathability is enhanced
with a mesh construction
over the foot that allows
air flow and water to
drain away quickly, be
under no illusion that
these shoes are in any
way waterproof. To ensure
your foot is held
securely in the shoe
especially when
traversing slippery
slopes, Salomon have
the external Sensifit
and Quicklace systems.
These two systems work in
tandem to clamp your foot
in place without
uncomfortable lace
pressure. Excess lace
tucks neatly away into
the tongue pocket so they
won’t snag and come
loose. Whilst the
Speedcross is designed
primarily as a trail
running shoe it will cope
with short sections of
hard pack thanks to the
moulded EVA Light Weight
Muscle Chassis and
internal cushioning.

The XT Hornet GTX is
built around a
lightweight Agile Chassis
System to provide
stability through the
heel and mid foot whilst
leaving the forefoot more
flexible for walking.
Lined with a Gore-Tex
membrane to keep out the
wet the Hornet is
designed as an all year
round performer. The out
sole is made using
Salomon’s superb
ContaGrip with ContaGrip
HA on the higher wear
areas and features
aggressive lugs for
security on wet,
slippery and loose
terrain. Foot security
is provided by the
Sensifit system which in
conjunction with the
Quiklace system cradles
your foot to give a
precise and stable fit.
The laces can be tucked
away in a neat tongue
pocket to avoid snagging
and loosening.
Cushioning is provided by
moulded EVA to give

foot cushioning and

The La Sportiva C-Lite
(Crosslite) is a
technical off road
running shoe that is
perfect for a variety of
terrain from hard packed
forest tracks to boggy
mountains. It features an
aggressively lugged sole
unit that deforms upon
impact to provide a
degree of cushioning. The
sole also features the
impact brake system where
the lugs of the sole are
oriented in opposing
slanted directions to
increase braking forces
by 20% and decrease
impact forces by 20%,
this really makes a
difference when
descending to reduce
fatigue and impact. The
midsole is a low profile
affair to provide
stability and sensitivity
but does offer some
cushioning in the form of
a very lightweight dual
density EVA and SBR
insert; stability and
impact protection is
maintained by a Nylon
moulded lasting board
with a high tensile rock
guard to...guard against
rocks! You are held
superbly inside the
C-Lite with very little
movement thanks to the
woven nylon Airmesh
uppers that feature an
integral scree guard that
covers the lace area and
helps to lock your foot
into place. The fabric of
the uppers are also
treated with Uretech,
this is a mixture of
sand, rubber and glue
that is applied to fabric
to provide a lightweight,
abrasion resistant
coating that is flexible
and mouldable. The C-Lite
is not waterproof but
breathes superbly and
works on the principle
that you wont care how
wet your feet get and
that the water can drain
out easily so the shoes
